Upton State Forest: A History
Pre Colonial
Before European settlers arrived Upton was a pass through place for Native Americans. There were Indian settlements in Grafton, Mendon and Westborough but no evidence of permanent occupation has been found in Upton. Except for travel between villages or hunting these lands belonged to the wildlife.
